Who are Umicore?

Umicore was founded in 1989 formally known as union miniere and was renamed to Umicore in 2001. Umicore is a world-renowned materials technology company based in Belgium, renowned for its pioneering approach to circular materials technology.

Umicore today focuses on the refining and recycling of precious metals and the manufacture of other metals.

In October 2021, Umicore appointed Mathias Miedreich as the new CEO after serving as the executive vice-president for Clean Mobility – Faurecia.

How Does the Umicore Circular Materials Technology Work?

This innovative methodology centers on the closed-loop system for materials, wherein resources are continually reused and recycled, thereby minimising extraction and disposal. The company specialises in the recycling and refining of precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum.
